The School of Foreign Languages was established under our University by the Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 2016/8562, dated January 25, 2016, and published in the Official Gazette No. 29678 on April 8, 2016. While efforts were ongoing to commence its educational activities, foreign language education services at our University were conducted by the Department of Foreign Languages, reporting to the Rectorate. Subsequently, in accordance with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) letter dated November 18, 2019, and numbered E.86486, the Department of Foreign Languages was closed, and all staff were transferred to our School.
Since that date, the common compulsory foreign language courses—conducted in all Faculties and Schools of our University pursuant to Article 5/i of Law No. 2547—as well as English Preparatory classes, have been carried out within the School of Foreign Languages through more intensive and modern foreign language education programs. Elective foreign language courses offered in our undergraduate programs are currently provided in English, German, and Russian. Optional English Preparatory classes are also available for newly enrolled students, subject to quota availability.
